Getting Started will not be in session on Friday, July 3. It is mandatory you make a reservation to participate. Be sure to keep a record of your reservation date. A confirmation will also be sent to you via email. Be sure to bring your confirmation with you to the program.

To achieve the individual contact with an advisor, we must limit the number of students we register each day. Reservations are taken in the order in which they are received. Only students who have been accepted for admission to UND and who have made a reservation will be allowed to register.

Your registration session

The Freshman Getting Started 2009 program is held in the Memorial Union. On Day 1, arrive for check-in at 8:30 am. The program begins promptly at 9:15 am. Getting Started will conclude on Day 2 around noon. Students admitted to UND will receive in the mail a booklet titled "Your Registration & Orientation First Year Booklet ". A campus map and parking permit will be included in the booklet to guide you to the Memorial Union. Being familiar with this booklet will help you in the advisement process. Be sure to bring your booklet with you to the program. Items in the booklet will be used while you are on campus participating in the program.

Obtaining your Student ID (U.Card)

You will have the opportunity to take your picture and receive your official University of North Dakota Student ID--your U.Card! Please be sure to bring an official government issued photo ID with you to the program. This will be needed to obtain your student ID.

Placement exams

Placement exams in mathematics and foreign languages are administered daily during Getting Started 2009. Both tests are scored immediately, and the results are available when you meet with your advisor. Math placement will be determined by your ACT math score and/or math college credit. You may take a math placement exam to possibly achieve a higher level of placement. This exam is for placement purposes only. Course credit is not given. The use of calculators during math placement exams is prohibited. For sample exams, check this out!

Foreign language placement exams are designed for students with two or more years of previous study in French, German, Russian, Spanish, or Latin. Unlike math, it is possible to earn credit by testing in a foreign language, whether or not you continue with the language.

More information on both exams will be given at the program.
